About WhoScored
WhoScored has been turning football data into football understanding since 2008. We started with a simple idea: that the modern game produces an extraordinary amount of detail, and that fans, analysts and journalists deserve a clear, neutral way to read it. More than a decade and a half later, we are one of the most quoted statistics platforms in football, with coverage that spans hundreds of competitions and thousands of teams worldwide.
Every match on WhoScored is treated as a complete dataset. We work with Opta event data, the same feed used by leading broadcasters and analysts, and we layer our own statistical model on top of it. The result is a live, end to end view of the match, from the opening whistle through to the final touch.
What we do
WhoScored exists to make football statistics genuinely useful, not just abundant.
- Live player ratings. Every player rated on a 1 to 10 scale starting at 6.0, with every action weighted by its real influence on the match outcome. Ratings update live during play.
- Match centres. Real time formations, key events, momentum and statistics for every fixture we cover.
- Predictions and previews. Data driven forecasts, expected value reads and tactical previews of upcoming matches.
- Player and team statistics. Hundreds of leagues and competitions covered, from the major European top flights to international tournaments.
- Historical data. More than fifteen years of structured football data, so trends and form can be read against deep context, not just the last few weeks.
The WhoScored player rating processes more than 200 distinct event types and grades each one by where on the pitch it happened, what happened next and how it affected the result. The methodology is proprietary, but it is consistent and grounded entirely in events that actually happened on the pitch. There are no opinions in a WhoScored rating. That is the point.
